Bored of Revision

Eurgh, I strongly dislike exams and the tedious amounts of revision that come part of the exam process. I would say hate but that's a strong word and shouldn't be used too often. I still have over a week till my exams finish but this literally feels like the longest week ever! As you can see my wall is just a constant cover of notes/mind maps, and this just for one exam. I still have 3 more to go and my brain is frazzled with all the information. I'm a bit of a fool when it comes to exams as I leave every single bit of revision till Not a wise idea at all. What's more annoying is that my housemates have finished their exams so are off out tonight whilst i'm left all alone memorising/highlighting/stressing and having a late night to prepare for tomorrow. My diet is also pretty horrific around this time living off pasta because I really can't be bothered to cook and chocolate bars (I'm munching on a bar as I write this). Not very healthy brain foods.  As you can tell this post has no purpose to it at all really, just wanted to share my dislike of the topic and have myself a break from writing copious amounts of notes out.

Can't wait to have my wall back again!

If any of you still have exams, whether that be GCSE's/A-level/uni, then GOOD LUCK

Benefit Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup | Review

Hello, first up a little apology for being a bit inactive on here recently. It's the dreaded exam season so it's revision all day and night for me because i'm an idiot and left it ALL till last minute - doh! Anyway, on with the review..

So the other week I thought I would try out a more expensive foundation which so happens to be this one. If you are on a budget then I wouldn't go buying this straight away as it is more pricey at £25.50 but I think the quality of the foundation is worth the buy. As soon as I got this back to my house my housemates were like "I love Benefit products they're so good" and as this is my first product by them, it made me excited to try it out. Now I have quite a pale complexion so I went for the Ivory colour which is best suited for light to medium coverage. The foundation claims to have an 'oxygen wow hydrating complex which boosts cellular respiration, protect against environmental stresses and prevent signs of ageing' (yes I know i'm not that old to need that part just yet). It's also oil free with an SPF of 25 which for me is good as my skin can get quite oily.

Benefit Oxygen Wow foundation £25.50

When applying a little goes a looong way and I don't even end up using one full pump, so for me half a pump is good. Once applied it has such light coverage that it leaves your skin still looking like skin, unlike some foundations which have a more thick coverage and can be more obvious against your skin. It's more of a natural coverage this one, so if you are looking for something that's more heavy on your skin I wouldn't go for this. For me it's also rather good at covering up small blemishes and any redness on my face so unless I have a whopping great big spot (yuck), I don't really bother with any concealer when using this. I also find that it has fantastic stay power lasting all day without any touch ups.

I did put  a little too much on my hand for this swatch so this amount is enough for my whole face

My only downfall with it is that although a light foundation, if you have any signs of dry skin  then it does cling a bit, so make sure you've fully exfoliated and moisturized before hand. I'm also not really seeing any of the 'oxygen wow' effects but that's maybe because i've not been wearing this everyday and you need to so before seeing the effects - I don't know, this is just my guess. So although a couple of minor downfalls, one of which just depends on your skin and not the product anyway, I will definitely be buying this again and trying out more of their products.

Have you tried any of their products?

DIY Brush Pot

Hello everyone!
I reeeeeally needed somewhere to put my makeup brushes other than just leaving them lying around in my makeup bag. But I had a dilemma as I don't have an awful lot of money at the minute (I just spent my last few pennies on a new foundation - post coming up in the next few days). So I had to get creative with what I had in my room. I like to have candles in my room and I realised that one of the old pots they come in would be perfect for the amount of brushes I have. So I cleaned it out and all they fit (yaaaaay). The pot I used was from one of Airwicks (I think) colour changing candles. It's saved me from going out and buying a pot/holder specifically for brushes, and who doesn't love to save a bit of money?
An option for those of you with a larger brush set is using an old big mug. As you can see my old starbucks one is a pretty good option too, but for me it's a little big for my smaller brush collection so I'll stick to my candle pot for now.

I hope you like them. What creative ways have you used to store your makeup stash?

Liebster Award

Hello! So Kelouise from has nominated me and some other fellow bloggers for this award - thank you! If you don't know this award, it's for bloggers with under 200 followers and is a great way to share your blog with others. There are some rules to this for nominees which are:

1. Each blogger should answer the questions the tagger has set for you.
2. Choose 11 new bloggers to pass the award onto and link them in your post.
3. Create 11 new questions for the chosen bloggers.
4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
5. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
6. No tag-backs!

So I shall begin...

11 Random facts:
  1. I used to live in Germany - no, I don't know the language
  2. Kellogs Bran Flakes/ Special K are my favourite cereals
  3. I have a  baby face - I got I.D for a 15 film when I was 18 and a lottery ticket at 19!
  4. I am not a morning person
  5. I studied 4 A-levels
  6. I used to horse ride
  7. I played in a football team - centre/right midfield
  8. My hair is naturally a dark blonde but I would love to be a brunette - doesn't suit me though
  9. It takes me about 3 hours to write a paragraph for an essay
  10. I HATE marmite
  11. I used to wear braces
11 Answered questions:

1. If you had to describe your style in one word, what would it be? Relaxed
2. What's your top beauty tip? Always make sure you wash your make-up brushes.    Dirty brushes can help cause breakouts! – and no one wants that
3. Liquid, mineral or mousse foundation? Liquid as I find mousse dries my skin out and mineral foundations don’t stay that well
4. What is your favourite colour to wear? Clothes wise I often wear darker clothes, but for nails and lips it would have to be coral colours.
5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Definitely somewhere in LA (who wouldn’t want the sun!) but not within the city, on the outskirts a little more as I’m more of a countryside kid
6. What is your favourite clothes shop? I have two (is that allowed?) Topshop and Ark
7. How many pairs of shoes do you own? More than I need, I would say about 25 pairs
8. What is your favourite lip product? ‘Classic Carmex moisturising lip balm’ – it leaves you lips a little tingly and makes them super soft
9. What is your dream job? Do you know what, I really don’t know so I can’t answer.
10. If you were an animal, what would you be? Hmmm, so this might sound weird but a frog maybe (why you may ask?), well because when I’m bored on land I can go for a swim without having to worry about breathing every second – thought that one through!
11. If you could have a dinner party with 3 famous people, who would it be? Okay so first up Greg James (slight obsession and crush on him), Matt Smith (I LOVE Dr Who – don’t judge) and Jennifer Lawrence (she’s just amazing)

My questions to you:
  1. Cats or dogs?
  2. What's your favourite perfume?
  3. Lipstick or mascara?
  4. If you could time travel, would you go to the past or future?
  5. Dresses or playsuits?
  6. Flat shoes or high heels?
  7. What's been your favourite holiday?
  8. Favourite colour?
  9. Favourite make-up product?
  10. Designer or high street brands?
  11. Who's your celebrity crush?

So they're my questions to you and here is a list of my nominee's:

Thank you!

Models Own nail varnish

Hello lovelies! After I finished work earlier today I remembered I needed to pick up a few bits and bobs from the supermarket (mainly pasta and milk - student essentials) so I headed towards the shop. However on my way I passed through Boots and I thought it would be rude not to look at what they had and see if I could spot any good buys. This is when I saw this Models Own nail varnish. I thought 'wow that's bright, I must give it a bash and see if it's any good'. So I bought it. I am amazed at just how bright it actually is because normally when you see a lovely nail varnish it just never looks the same applied as it does in it's little pot. And when I say bright, I mean BRIGHT!

The one I picked up is ' Luis Lemon NP137' which as you can see is a really nice shade of a lemony yellow (hence the lemon in the name). It's a matt effect varnish but for a glossy look just add a top coat. There are other colours available and knowing me I'll probably make my way back to the store and pick up some more soon. They are a little more expensive than some nail varnishes at £5 each but for the quality of the colour I think it's a pretty good deal.

This is only with one coat on!

Have you tried any of the other neon colours? Let me know
